Food Content Trends in November

Do you smell that? I smell cinnamon and nutmeg and mashed potatoes and pie and cookies and happiness. Okay, maybe not that last one, but the other ones for sure!

We’re coming up on the second to last month of the year. Can you believe that?! I surely can’t.

But with a new month comes new trends. And as we’re nearing the holidays, searches for food-related entertaining ideas are spiking.

That being said, this is the perfect opportunity to start promoting your holiday-themed content, and here are a few trends to help get you started:

Thanksgiving

You knew this one was coming, right? Arguably the biggest food holiday of the year makes people crazy for searching for the perfect recipes.

My suggestion to stand out from the crowd this Thanksgiving? Try to reimagine the classics. And there are a few ways that you can come up with those creative ideas.

Ubersuggest can help you find Thanksgiving-related content ideas. For example, “Thanksgiving recipes for vegans” is a relatively low-competition keyword, so it may make sense to create some content around that term.

So when planning out Thanksgiving content, it may make sense to be a bit more specific!

Create some vegan Turkey-less Day recipe ideas. Post a few different stuffing ideas. Publish a non-traditional turkey recipe. Focus on healthier Thanksgiving grub. Plan a low-carb or keto Thanksgiving menu. Surprise your readers by giving them a new and exciting Thanksgiving favorite.

The options are truly endless when it comes to Turkey Day! 🦃

Turkey & Stuffing & Dressing

That being said, turkey and stuffing/dressing searches are (unsurprisingly) trending in November!

But just how much are they trending? Well, hopefully this will help visualize it for you:

Crazy, right? Those sharp spikes in November should be a clear message that you should publish turkey & stuffing recipes accordingly.

If you really want to try and hit it out of the park, try combining the two for an easy, all-in-one dish for your readers’ holiday feasts!

Pie

Do you love pie? If so, you’re in luck (and you’re not alone). “Pie” searches go crazy this time of year.

A lot of that has to do with it being Thanksgiving, and many of the top queries related to “pie” (apple pie, pie crust, and pumpkin pie make the top five) signify that as well.

If you’ve made pie from scratch before, you know that pie crust can be finicky. If you know some troubleshooting tips, create a resource for your readers to help with some of the most common issues they may face when making pie dough.

And if you need help brainstorming common pie crust problems or questions people have, just type “pie crust” into Google, and scroll down to the section that says, “People also ask.”

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, & Cyber Monday

Some people really love the tradition of getting up early, bundling up, and giving their credit cards a workout the day after Thanksgiving. And that makes it a trending topic in November.

The whole weekend is filled with deals and discounts, and if affiliate marketing is part of your income-making strategy, this is the perfect time to promote your affiliate links with gift guides and holiday posts.

Crockpot Recipes

It’s that time of year, friends. Break out that crockpot! With the weather getting colder and the nights getting darker, searches for crockpot recipes are up all winter long!

This is a great opportunity to combine your readers’ interest in crockpot recipes with their desire to find the perfect Thanksgiving recipes.

Crockpot Thanksgiving recipes can take the stress out of timing what goes into the oven and when, and they’re typically on the easier side of cooking. Not only that, crockpot recipes pretty much guarantee that the food cooked in them will be hot when it hits the dinner table.

Holidays to Remember

As you’re planning out your content for November, don’t forget about these upcoming holidays!

  • National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month
  • Día de los Muertos
  • National Sandwich Day
  • National Nacho Day
  • Veterans Day
  • American Thanksgiving
  • Start of Hanukkah
  • Christmas
  • Kwanzaa
  • New Year’s Eve

And for those around the world…

While we’re focused on cozy comfort foods, those in the Southern hemisphere are celebrating spring at the moment!

This time of year is all about fresh fruits, veggies, and produce. Foods with ingredients like peas, herbs, greens, root vegetables, and berries can give you a starting point when creating seasonal content for your readers in the Southern hemisphere.

Now over to you: Which trends are you focusing on in November? Which do you think your readers will resonate with the most?
